Time zone and time changes in France. In France, the same time zone applies as in Poland, the so-called Central European Time (GMT + 1, or Greenwich Mean Time).

Time zone.

A time zone is a designated area on the Earth’s surface with an average latitude of 15 ° (360 ° / 24) longitude that runs longitudinally between the poles at the same time as mandated by the authority (zone time). Usually it is determined by the mean solar time of the median meridian of this zone, it differs by an integer number of hours from Universal Time. There are also zones where the time differs from the universal time by an incomplete number of hours. Those points that are on the same meridian have the same local (i.e. local) time. As the longitude changes, the local time changes. In the era of the development of faster and newer means of transport, local time has become inconvenient. The entire globe is divided into 24 time zones. Timezones and universal time were proposed by the Canadian Sandford Fleming in 1878, and these changes were made in 1884.

Summer time and winter time.

When we change the time from winter to summer, we always switch the watches from 2 to 3 o’clock, unfortunately in this way we shorten the night by one hour. Such an operation always takes place at night from Saturday to Sunday, it is done on non-working days in order to minimize inconvenience and confusion resulting from the change of time. The time for changing from winter to summer time always falls on the last weekend of March. The introduction of summer time is aimed at better use of daylight, and thus saving energy. Winter and summer time are used not only in France and Poland, but also in about 70 countries around the world. Changing to winter time means taking advantage of the extended “clear morning”. This change makes it dusk faster, but in the morning we take advantage of the fact that it is light earlier.
