Val Thores is a ski station in the French Alps at 2,300 meters above sea level. It is part of the Les Trois Valees ski complex, which is one of the largest and highest in Europe. Within it, there are about 600 kilometers of well-prepared ski slopes connected by lifts and cable cars, as well as numerous hotels, restaurants and bars ensuring a stay at the highest world level.
Val Thorens – skiing conditions
The lifts in the Val Thorens area are open from early November to May. The season is extremely long here and allows you to ski even when there is no more snow in the lower stations. The routes are located on the slopes surrounding the valley. The highest ones start at 3,200 meters above sea level, on the peaks of Pointe de Bouchet and Cime de Caron. They are already above the all-year snow cover. The Val Thorens runs are wonderfully prepared. Many of them have a north-west and north-west exhibition, which means that the snow stays longer on them. The complex also has 5 snow parks with gutters, moguls and other equipment for snowboarding and skiing.
Val Thorens weather
Val Thores has ideal weather conditions for skiing. This is one of the reasons why it is appreciated by lovers of white madness. The snow cover lasts for a very long time, until May. Most of the slopes have a southern exposure, but there are also quite a few where the northern location is favorable for extending the season. Val Thorens is located in the Mediterranean climate zone, but due to its high altitudes it is much sharper than at their foot. Winters are cold here, but low temperatures do not prevent skiing. On the other hand, heavy snowfall makes the skiing conditions one of the best in Europe. In summer, Val Thorens, on the other hand, has clear, sunny and dry weather, which is favorable for mountain hiking.
Val Thorens – maps and guides

A very important thing before going to distant places is to have the right maps and guides. They allow you to prepare the route of departure in advance, determine the places you would like to visit and plan your stay properly. At the same time, already on the spot, they help to avoid many stressful situations related to the search for the right path or object. A lot of information about Val Thorens can be found in general guides to France published by Pascal, Lonely Planet and Michellin, among others. Those going skiing can take advantage of the English-speaking guide Snowfinder Les 3 Valees. A car map of the Marco Polo publishing house is also available on the Polish market: Provence, Cote de Azur, Rhone-Alpes covering these areas. The map of the French Alps has also been published by Cartomedia. In turn, the French publisher, Michelin, offers a map of the Rhone Alpes region in a very good scale and with a tourist housing.
