While on vacation in France, it may happen that we have to seek medical attention. Healthcare in France means that you can access medical services at any time, but only those covered by the contract with the French health insurance fund. In order to be able to benefit from medical advice or assistance, we don’t have to own with me the so-called EUROPEAN INSURANCE CARD. She is necessary only when our health condition indicates that we are detained in the hospital.
Medical services and drugs – price list.
Sometimes our health requires more radical measures. We are then forced to buy medicines. In France it is like that first we pay the full fee for the drug. Next we can apply for its refund through the mediation of the local health insurance fund. The returns in individual cases are as follows:
- Basic drugs – 100% return of their value;
- Emergency medications – reimbursement of 65% of their value;
- Other drugs – 15% of their value reimbursed or no reimbursement.
The amount of drug reimbursement is indicated by special labels, i.e. vignette stickers:
- 100% – white sticker with a crossed rectangle;
- 65% – blue sticker;
- 15% – orange sticker;
- 0% – triangle symbol.
In order to be able to apply for a refund of the purchased drugs, we have to peel off the stickers and put them on a special card, which we will receive from the pharmacist or the doctor prescribing the drug. The reimbursement also covers all types of outpatient services. Here health insurance returns about 30% the price of the benefit. Reimbursement for laboratory testse is 60% their total cost. If we get surrendered hospitalizationwe will also get a refund of the fees. The return is from 80% – 100% costs incurred by us. So what are the prices related to this particular industry? INa visit to a specialist doctor is a cost in excess of 20 EURO. In the event that we use GP advicethen we pay the amount for the visit about 20 EURO. price for daily hospital stay is the amount approx. 15 Euro.
How do I apply for a refund of costs incurred?
In order to be eligible for reimbursement of our costs, we must present the following documents to your local health insurance fund:
- Original document with drug stickers;
- Copy of the European Health Insurance Card;
- Original hospital bills.
